Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — American Samoa continues under a state of emergency for 31-days, effective Aug. 1st through Aug. 31st - as a result of the deadly global coronavirus pandemic, according to Gov. Lolo Matalasi Moliga’s  Seventh Amended Declaration, which was released to cabinet members and the media on Friday, July 31st.

American Samoa — without a confirmed case — continues under the “Code Blue” threat-level.

The amended document, released by the Governor’s Office, noted the increasing number of cases and deaths in the US, including Hawaii, “being the only gateway” to the territory, “further increasing our vulnerability.”

The amended documents reiterated that all Hawaiian Airlines flights between Honolulu and Pago Pago remain suspended with reconsideration slated for Sept. 1st.

Furthermore, all inter Samoa flights remain suspended and will be continually reviewed, depending on the COVID-19 status in both countries.

Current restrictions placed on hours of operations for businesses remains the same — open from 5a.m to 9p.m. - which is also operating hours for all public transportation.

An exemption by the governor remains in place for StarKist Samoa and its supporting business partners.

Schools will open this month for the new school year 2020-2021 and schools are to observe social distancing and wearing mask.
