Gov. Lemanu confirms ground rules for first repatriation flight

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga announced at the opening of the 37th Legislature, that the American Samoa Government will have its first repatriation flight from the U.S. on Friday, January 29, 2021.

In a press release issued by the COVID-19 Task Force the following information was provided:

To get on the list for the repatriation flight coming from the State of Hawaii, all American Samoa residents who want to return home must register on the Department of Health website. Repatriation Website: https://americansamoapublichealth.com. Email dohcovid19clearance@doh.as or call 219, 684-633-5871 or 684-633-5872 for more information on repatriation. If you are traveling with family members, please submit only one application per family, listing all family members.

To receive approval to travel on the repatriation flight, ALL passengers departing from Honolulu must comply with all American Samoa Department of Health repatriation policies and procedures. Applicants who do not comply will be disqualified.

Individuals not eligible for the first repatriation flight include individuals who are undergoing dialysis or have other medical needs that would need medical attention outside of the designated quarantine facilities. Those not eligible will be under consideration for next available flights.

To receive approval to travel on the repatriation flight, following are the initial requirements for eligibility to get on the repatriation flight. Passengers must receive health clearances from DOH AND clearance from the Attorney General’s office. Seats for the repatriation flight are on a first come first registration basis, and upon passing all clearance requirements at DOH and AG’s office.

ELIGIBILITY

1.             Be a bona fide resident of American Samoa.

2.             Be a returning LBJ or Medicaid referral patient.

3.             Register on the DOH website for repatriation.

4.             Quarantine in Honolulu for 10 days (Negative COVID test 3 days prior to entry into quarantine, Negative COVID test Day 1 of quarantine, and Negative COVID test 72 hours prior to departure.)

5.             Quarantine in AS for 14 days upon arrival (two more Negative COVID tests.)

This is also a round-trip charter flight bringing repatriation residents and Medicaid referral patients. The return flight back to Honolulu will also be used to take Medicaid referral patients and all others wishing to travel to Hawaii.

The DOH will handle all issues dealing with the Repatriation flight from HNL to PPG. The Medicaid agency will handle the PPG to HNL flight like previous medical charters.

Additional details on the repatriation flight will be forthcoming in the next 24-48 hours from this PSA.
