Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu P.S. Mauga has announced in a memo, dated Apr. 22, 2204, that he has expanded the 2024 Flag Day Holiday by observing Tuesday, April 23, 2024, as part of the Flag Day Holiday declared under a general memo issued on Apr. 8th that designated Flag Day as Wednesday, Apr. 17 for ASG employees.

In his Apr. 22nd memo, he points out that the additional day is so that American Samoa Government employees may join their families and communities in the time-honored tradition of the Flag Day fautasi race.

The fautasi race was postponed due to concern for the safety of the captains and their crews due to weather conditions creating rough seas.

The governor notes “with many thanks for your service and dedication, I encourage you to enjoy this holiday with your friends and family celebrating all of the blessings we enjoy.”
