Governor Lemanu welcomes new StarKist CEO on his first visit to territory
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — StarKist Samoa’s new President and CEO Chae-Ung Um visited American Samoa this week for the first time following the announcement of his appointment in late October.
Mr. Um attended the regular prayer service for StarKist employees on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022 and gave round trip tickets to two employees who ended the year with a perfect attendance record. He also met with Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga and held several meetings with the StarKist management team before departing American Samoa on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022.
Mr. Um, a West Point graduate, joins StarKist from LG Electronics where he was Corporate Senior Vice President, Procurement Strategy, Digital Procurement Transformation & General Procurement.
He will be President & CEO on Jan. 1, 2023, taking over from Mr. Andrew Choe, who served in the post for eight years.
