Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Gov. Lemanu P. S Mauga has tasked the Governor’s Office Planning and Operations Division (POD) along with the Communication division (GOVNET COMMS) to coordinate with all ASG authorities, departments, and agencies to build a centralized ASG calendar of activities for 2023.

This is according to a Dec. 09 memorandum from the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Loa Tuimavave T. Laupola to cabinet members, as the Administration prepares to enter its third-year in office.

“This initiative will assist the Governor's Office in synchronizing all major events, communication, and training ASG-wide,” Loa explained.

The chief of staff instructed that directors are to assign a representative to serve as a ‘point of contact’ (POC) and a communication specialist for their respective calendars and to communicate the department’s upcoming events.

The POC’s name and email address was to be provided to the Governor’s Office by last Friday and the POD and the GOVNET COMMS will host a Calendar and Communications training tomorrow, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. at the ASG Veterans (VA) Office in Tafuna.

Loa’s memo comes at a time when many members of the community —including the private sector and several senior ASG officials — have voiced concerns over several ASG-sponsored events that overlap other government-sponsored events. And this has prompted last minute changes.

Some members of the business community are hoping that the Administration will share the calendar of events, training and communication with them so they can also coordinate their planning of especially important events where they intend to invite the governor and/or lieutenant governor to attend.

The previous Lolo Administration had made it a point to emphasize to cabinet members to coordinate all ASG sponsored events with the Governor’s Office to ensure everyone is on the “same page” and even released to the media an ASG major event calendar on a monthly basis.
