Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Hawaiian Airlines will operate additional flights between Honolulu and Pago Pago, according to the latest media release signed by the airlines local Operations Manager— Airport Operation, Mrs. Sia Burgos, dated November 20, 2023.

The airline had previously responded from Honolulu to Samoa News queries via email on Nov. 2, 2023 that Hawaiian Airlines planned to maintain its current two weekly flights on its Honolulu- Pago route for the upcoming holiday season. At the time, airline spokesman Alex Da Silva also said that they would “continue to monitor demand to ensure we are operating an adequate level of capacity.”

Now a media release from Hawaiian states that it will operate two additional flights for the Holidays: Wednesday, December 13, 2023, and Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

It adds that “should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 699-1875.”

There was no additional information in the media release or from the Honolulu office as to why the airline decided to add the holiday flights.

As previously noted in the report of no additional HA holiday flights by Samoa News reporter Fili Sagapolutele, students attending college in the U.S and Samoans wanting to return home for the holiday traditionally keep the incoming flights busy. And local residents wanting to spend the holiday in the US have kept the outbound flights full in past years.

An option that some travelers had been exploring was travel to Apia, Samoa to catch the Fiji Airways flight to Honolulu.
