Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — ASG’s Historic Preservation Office Director Tuimalo Elvis Pa’u Zodiacal was arrested on Friday night for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police say that the government vehicle allocated to him was impounded as a result by officers from the Traffic Division of the Department of Public Safety.

Tuimalo was appointed as Director in 2021 by Governor Lemanu P. S. Mauga to oversee the Historic Preservation Office — which is part of the Governor’s Office.

Tuimalo is also a member of the Feleti Barstow Public Library board.

Samoa News made repeated efforts to get comments from Tuimalo and the Acting Police Commissioner Fo’ifua Vaipuna but were unsuccessful as of press time.

In the meantime, Tuimalo is scheduled to make his initial appearance in the District Court today.

It’s also been confirmed that he posted bail and was released from the Tafuna Correctional Facility on Friday night.
