Investing in American Samoa’s village roads
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — As the Lemanu-Talauega administration continues road improvement projects across the territory, the groundbreaking to begin the work on the Malaeimi Village Access Road took place on Friday, February 09, 2024.
The proposed project includes paving an access road leading to Malaeimi Village, which includes asphalt paving, clearing, excavation and relocation of any existing utility lines that may have an effect within the construction limits.
Work involves construction of a 3-inch thick Asphalt Cement with a 4-inch base coarse aggregate, as well as the construction of a concrete swale. Contract time for completion of this project is 240 calendar days.
"By investing in our infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for a brighter future for generations to come,” Gov. Lemanu P.S. Mauga stated in a government media release.
Contracted to Paramount Builders Incorporated, the Project Management Team included the Civil Highway Division of the Department of Public Works, under the supervision of Chief Engineer Rueben Siatu’u. The Management Team is as follows:
- Design Engineer: Dympna Pangilinan, CE
- Project Engineer: Uaealesi D. Sipeli’i, CE
- Project Manager: Onolata R.M. Saleapaga
- Project Inspector(s): Kaleopa Kaleopa and Junior Teoni
The road improvement project is funded by the US Department of Interior, Office of Insular Affairs with the original contract amount of $692,206.
