KVZK fails to deliver live-stream of COVID-19 Task Force presser
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Office of Public Information has publicly apologized to members of the public for their lapse in carrying out their duties, when the press conference with the COVID-19 Task Force was not streamed live as it normally is.
Yesterday, Samoa News received calls from the public inquiring on the latest information from the COVID Task Force, and expressed their disappointment that the press conference was not streamed live as “usual”.
An email was sent to the Acting Director of the KVZK TV, Aaron Hall and News Director, Tupua Tosi after calls to Samoa News from the public.
In response, Tupua confirmed that their office did not carry its’ usual live feed yesterday morning during the Task Force’s weekly press conference.
“The Management of KVZK is conducting an internal investigation why this happened. I apologize on behalf of KVZK Management for the hiccup on our part,” said Tupua.
KVZK-TV is the public government-owned broadcaster and its a subsidiary of the Office of Public Information.
The COVID-19 Task Force has used KVZK TV to broadcast its press conferences via live-stream — to disseminate up-to-date information to the public and media about the COVID pandemic. This includes not only health department updates but also CODE RED updates concerning restrictions in the community.
Samoa News understands there has been one more death attributed to COVID-19 and our reporters will bring you this information as it becomes available.
