Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — In an Oct. 26th memorandum to COVID-19 Task Force members, Gov. Lemanu Peleti Mauga voiced concerns over the drop in member participation during meetings and ordered that “active participation” is to continue for future meetings.

According to the governor, participation in task force meetings “has dwindled” in the past month, and he reminded members that “COVID-19 remains a threat and we are charged with keeping our territory safe” and “it is a responsibility we must take seriously.”

To ensure maximum participation, the governor noted that meetings have Zoom capability to allow members to access remotely. “We must forge ahead and continue our work,” he said, adding that the “risk is far too great to falter”.

“I expect active participation to resume and continue for future meetings,” he declared.

The task force usually has weekly meetings towards the beginning of the week and the governor returned to the territory on the Sept. 13th flight from Honolulu. The outcome of task force meetings is usually summarized in a press releases issued by mid-week.
