Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Walker and Pritchard families announce the passing of their beloved father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Michael Richard Walker, who departed this life on April 21, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. At age 70.

Born in San Francisco, California, on December 16, 1954, Michael was proudly raised on his island home of American Samoa—a true Samoan boy with the ocean in his heart and the spirit of the islands in his soul.

Michael lived life boldly and joyfully. A wild and free spirit, he was always the life of the party and never passed up the chance to bring laughter to a room. He loved to sing and dance! Though he couldn’t carry a tune, his signature dance moves could be spotted a mile away. A proud and loud Packers fan, he claimed his title as the only Cheesehead south of the equator. Football season was never quiet with Dad around; his wild commentary kept everyone on their toes. Whether playfully ribbing his son-in-law about the “Forty Whiners” or teasing his nephews over their beloved “Seachickens,” it was always in good fun and full of love for the game.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Michael served his country with honor before continuing to serve in his own way—fixing things with a MacGyver touch, diving into conversations (or deep waters), and bringing people together with his magnetic charm, infectious laughter, and genuine presence. He was a scuba enthusiast, a seeker of connection, and a champion of the little moments that make life beautiful.

Michael is survived by his beloved daughters Trisha, Cheryl, and Felesita; sons-in-law Gary and Loki; grandchildren Sean, Tasanee, Kira, Calie, Roman, Devon, Tyee, Kaycee, Tiphanee, Coye, and Desmond; and great-granddaughters Persephone and Penelope. He also leaves behind his loving sisters Kim, Vicky, and Tupito; brothers-in-law Semikueva and Samer; and countless aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins—all of whom he adored and encouraged throughout his life.

To know Michael was to know joy, loyalty, and laughter. He lived with a heart wide open—devoted to family, friends, fellowship, and fun. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, always believing in the power of community and the importance of showing up for one another as we navigate this thing called life. We take comfort knowing he’s in good company now—probably talked the Pope’s ear off on his way up and is now cracking jokes with the angels.

A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on July 12, 2025, in San Diego, California.
