Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On August 16, 2025, a concerned mother called the Leone Police Station (LPS) and requested assistance regarding her son, who was allegedly intoxicated and causing a disturbance at their home.

The suspect was arrested and charged with:

Count 1: Public Peace Disturbance, a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $500, or both imprisonment and fine; and,

Count 2: Private Peace Disturbance (DV), a class C misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both.

The defendant’s bail was set at $500.

According to court records, on Aug. 16th, at approximately 12:50 a.m., a mother (the reporter) contacted the LPS reporting that her son, Moli Faumuina, was intoxicated and allegedly causing a disturbance at their residence.

The officers responded to the call and, upon arrival, they met with the reporter (defendant’s mother), who briefed them about the incident.

According to the reporter, she stated that her son, Moli (the suspect), was drinking alcohol with one of their neighbors, and when he came home intoxicated and he started yelling out profanities in Samoan, which also alerted the neighbors. The reporter said she was worried because her older sons tried to calm the suspect down, but he attempted to grab a knife — that’s when she contacted the police for assistance.

The reporter also noted that the blade (of the knife) was not sharp, and it was short. She stated that the knife was placed with all their equipment, but the suspect wasn’t able to get to it.

After the mother’s interview, the officers escorted the suspect to the LPS, where he was read his Miranda rights. The suspect understood his rights and agreed to provide a statement.

According to Moli’s verbal statement, he admitted to drinking with one of his neighbors and then going home later because he was hungry. However, when he got home, there was no food, which made him angry, and he started yelling profanities in Samoan as he walked towards his shack.

Moli was booked and transported to the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.

The defendant is identified as a 23-year-old citizen of Samoa.
