Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The ASG Treasury Department is releasing via the US mail service on Wednesday, May 13th all 2019 tax refunds for those who filed between Feb. 6th and Feb. 11th, totaling more than $1.68 million.

The refunds are included in Batch number 9, according to ASG Treasurer Ueligitone Tonumaipe’a in a brief statement last Thursday.

Of the total refund checks — $589,829 is for local and more than $1.09 million for the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC), which is funded by the US Internal Revenue Service.

Batch #9 brings into the local economy a total amount of refunds issued so far to more than $7.9 million — with over $5.11 million in ACTC and more than $2.79 million in local refunds, says Tonumaipe’a.

To assist with tracking refunds, Tonumaipe’a reminds taxpayers to always keep in mind their filing date, and batch number, as disbursement of checks is based on this information.
