National Soccer Team arriving tonight after training for Oceania Qualifier

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — American Samoa’s Men's National Soccer Team is participating in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers — Oceania Qualifying Tournament, scheduled to take place in Apia, Samoa on Sept. 6, 2024, according to the OFC.

The American Samoa Men's National OFC WCQ Team is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, on Hawaiian Airlines. The team has been training in Honolulu at a specialized camp in preparation for the upcoming match against Samoa, with the aim of advancing to the next levels of competition.

Family, friends and supporters are all encouraged to greet the team, welcoming them on their journey.

Details for a church service are still being finalized.

The Team and Management, along with a representative from Hana Hou Magazine conducting a human-interest story on local players whom traveled and gathered in Hawaii for this training/ trial camp from Pago Pago and across the U.S., reaching as far as Virginia.

Mr. Thomas Rongen, the Head Coach of our American Samoa Men's National Team, will be officially announced upon arrival in American Samoa, where FFAS President Fai'ivae Iuli A. Godinet will greet the Team at Tafuna International Airport. They are expected to be open to an interview.

Under Rongen's leadership, American Samoa achieved a historic milestone: their first-ever FIFA-sanctioned victory, defeating Tonga in a qualifying match and marking their second victory in international play. This remarkable turnaround was documented in the Next Goal Wins.
