No hospitalizations or deaths but positive COVID cases continue up
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Health Department data on confirmed COVID-19 cases in the community shows the numbers continue to increase following tests conducted Saturday, Feb. 26.
The DoH data report also amends the numbers for Feb. 25 with the number of positives at 10 — instead of the initial nine released Friday — because one case at the LBJ Medical Center was not added to the cumulative count for that date.
DoH reports that on Feb. 26, a total of 224 tests were conducted and nine tested positive — all of them were fully vaccinated. “There were no reported hospitalizations or deaths related to COVID-19,” according to the latest DoH report released last night.
With the new nine-positives, DoH report states that the total confirmed cases at 8:30p.m. on Feb. 26 stood at 63.
Data in the DoH report identifies villages of the 63 confirmed positives: one at Fagaalu; three in Fagasa, one at Fa’ilolo; one at Faleniu, six from Ili’ili; eleven in Leone; 17 from Nu’uuli; one at Pago Pago; one at Puapua; 17 in Tafuna; two in Vaitogi; and two in Vatia.
DoH said that anyone who tests positive is served with a Home Isolation Directive and they are to stay isolated at home for 14-days. Additionally, all family members in the same household are considered close contacts and are being served with a Home Quarantine Directive, also for 14 days.
Enforcement of Home Isolation and Quarantine will be conducted by the Department of Public Safety and Office of Samoan Affairs, said DoH.
