Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Non-patient cost-share for the medical charter — which is now re-scheduled for Jan. 13, 2021 — is $911 for the one-way flight, according the American Samoa Medicaid State Agency — or Medicaid Office — in a brief announcement late yesterday morning posted on its Facebook page.

According to the “urgent update” announcement, the charter flight has moved to Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021 — from Jan. 12, 2021.

The Hawaiian Airlines flight crew “needs the extra day to ensure that they can guarantee the administration and receipt of their COVID Negative tests for our government's requirements,” said the Medicaid Office and apologized for any inconvenience.

For non-patient passengers, who need to pay the cost share, “unfortunately it appears that there will be no cargo, so the cost share is $911,” the notice says.

Payment forms can be picked up at the Medicaid office on Monday, Dec. 28 to make the cost share payment at the ASG Treasury Department at the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building in Utulei.

Medicaid Office director Sandra King-Young had said last week that the “cost-share” is based on whether there is any cargo that would help reduce the cost share. (See Samoa News edition Dec. 16th for details.)

In a separate Facebook page announcement, the Medicaid office said the charter flight is fully booked and Medicaid is no longer accepting any new requests. “If any passengers change their plans to not travel, Medicaid will pull from the people currently on the wait list,” it says.
