Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On April 19, 2025, a victim of an alleged domestic dispute walked into the Tafuna Police Substation (TPS) requesting assistance to remove her partner from their home.

The defendant was later arrested and charged with:

Count 1: Assault in the Third Degree (DV), a class C misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both imprisonment and fine;

Count 2: Private Peace Disturbance (DV), a class C misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both imprisonment and fine.

There was no set bail for the defendant.

(Samoa News has withheld the names of those involved to protect the identities of the minors.)

According to the court affidavit, on Apr. 19th, at around 2:04 a.m., a woman (later identified as the victim) walked into the TPS and stated that she needed assistance in removing her partner from their residence.

Authorities met with the victim where she stated that she and her partner (later identified as the defendant) had gotten into an argument regarding their eldest daughter leaving the house to live with her boyfriend.

The victim stated that this is not the first time and she has had enough.

The victim continued that “whenever they get into an argument, the defendant becomes violent and breaks things by throwing them around and ruining things in their room.”

The defendant also grabbed a knife and told her that “he would end us all” — referring to her and their children.

The victim stated again that this is not the first time he has done this and she wants the defendant removed from their home before anything horrible happens.

The officers went to the victim’s residence and brought the defendant into the station for questioning. Upon arrival at the station, the defendant was Mirandized, and refused to make a statement.

The defendant was booked and confined at the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.

The defendant is identified as a 41-year-old citizen of Samoa.
