Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On September 8, 2024, a female individual reported a dispute between her parents.

The father (later identified as the defendant) was charged with:

Count 1: Private Peace Disturbance (DV), a class C misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to fifteen days, a fine of $300, or both.

The affidavit did not state a bail for the defendant.

According to the affidavit, on Sept 8th, at around 9:52 p.m., a female individual contacted the police headquarters and reported that her parents were arguing. The caller wanted her father, Maatulimanu Sauileone to be removed from their home.

Police officers proceeded to the call and upon reaching the scene, they met up with the caller and her mother (later identified as the victim).

According to the victim’s written statement, she went to her daughter’s house to use her bathroom because the bathroom in their home was not working properly. As she was using the bathroom, she overheard her husband shouting loudly and angrily. She stated that the defendant was also throwing projectiles towards the bathroom she was using.

The victim further explained that she stepped out of the bathroom and told the defendant “that he has no business where she can use the bathroom, especially if it's their own child’s home”.

After saying what she said, the victim said she walked back to her own house and that’s when the defendant started yelling profanities in Samoan, and also threatened to end her life in front of their grandchildren.

The victim said that this wasn’t the first time the defendant caused an altercation in their family and it was becoming a routine.

The affidavit does not mention when or if the defendant was apprehended and arrested.

The defendant is identified as a 52-year-old citizen of Samoa.
