Port Administration launches new voyage email notification and vessel-tracking features
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA— The Port Administration American Samoa (PAAS) has added new public notification and vessel-tracking features to ManuateleSchedule.com, giving travelers and families, especially those in Manuʻa, a better way to follow voyage activity and receive timely updates.
Members of the public can now request automatic email notifications for a selected voyage. Depending on the alerts they choose, users may receive updates when a vessel:
- Departs from its point of origin
- Arrives at its destination
- Arrives at an intermediary island or port of call
- An island or port of call is skipped
- Has arrived offshore but is waiting for the tide before entering port
- Is delayed, rescheduled, canceled, or placed on a weather hold
Users may select only the notifications they want. For example, someone may choose to receive an arrival notification for the final destination, while another person may choose to track the vessel throughout the voyage, including its stops at intermediary islands.
A new Special Voyage Notice section has also been added. This allows the PAAS to post important public information for a specific voyage at any time. This feature was implemented as a result of the recent service disruptions and cancellations during the Manuʻa Cession Day schedule, when additional voyage-specific information was needed to keep the public informed.
The system has also been updated to provide clearer reasons when a voyage is changed or disrupted. Public notices may now identify whether a change is related to:
- Weather
- Mechanical issues
- Scheduling
- Regulatory compliance
These improvements are intended to provide passengers, families, and the shipping communities with more accurate and timely information, especially the Manu’a community, which depends so heavily on these services.
PAAS thanks the people of American Samoa, especially the people of Manuʻa, for their continued patience, understanding, and support as we work to improve the safety and quality of its services for our people.
