Second round of 2022 ASG tax refunds going out on Tuesday
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The second round of tax refund checks for 2022 tax filings — totaling more than $2.9 million — will be released Tuesday, Mar. 21, said Treasurer Malemo Tausaga in a brief statement issued last Friday.
According to the statement, a total of 936 taxpayers who filed on Feb. 02 to Feb. 07 will be getting their refunds through direct deposits, the U.S Post Office and pick up at the Treasury’s Disbursing Office on the ground floor of the A.P. Lutali Executive Office Building (EOB) in Utulei.
Of the total of more than $2.94 million for Batch #2, Treasury says that $847,215 is funded with local revenues; $976,045 for the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) and more than $1.12 million in the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
The ACTC and EITC portions of tax refunds are federally funded.
Treasury says that if you were expecting your refund and did not receive it, please call (633-4181) or visit the Tax Office — the ground floor of the EOB — for further information and assistance.
The release of Batch #2 comes at a time when tax payers who are expecting refunds have been posting on social media aking when the next round of refunds will be distributed after reports circulated from ASG offices that new refund checks would be distributed soon.
And the nearly $3 million in tax refund checks is welcomed not only by the recipients but also retailers, who are looking forward to a boost in purchases from consumers.
