Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Bishop Kolio Tumanuvao Etuale, Coadjutor Bishop of Samoa-Pago Pago, American Samoa, Pacific (Oceania) Catholic diocese participating in the Catholic church’s taualuga while Faipule Larry Sanitoa provides him with shelter from the torrential downpour on Flag Day, Monday April 17, 2023.

He was one of the two bishops — the other was Bishop Peter Brown who brought the Catholic Diocese- Pago Pago pese & siva presentation to an end with a “taualuga”. Taualuga monetary gifts totaled over $9,000 from various dignitaries, as well as local leaders.

Bishop Brown offered the opening & closing prayers for the 2023 Flag Day and was offered a fond farewell from the government of American Samoa as he is retiring at the end of this month. He in turn thanked many for allowing an ‘outsider’ to be at home in the territory.
