Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The face and voice of Bluesky, Sherry Sele will be missed by many.

Bluesky Chief Executive Officer, Justin Tuiasosopo said their company was fortunate Ms Sele was on their team for close to 20 years.

Ms Sele passed away Oct. 9, 2022. She was 59.

"Sherry was so loved by all who knew and worked with her over the past 16 years at Bluesky Communications. 

 “Sherry was indeed the face, voice, and heart of Bluesky throughout the years. 

“Sherry leaves a legacy as one of Bluesky’s great leaders for her unwavering work ethic, strength and tenacity, vibrant personality, love for the Bluesky team, deep passion for our customers and the community, and above all — her selfless heart,” said Tuiasosopo.

Labeled as a customer champion Sele had 39 years of work experience with leadership roles that include general manager, marketing manager, customer service & public relations manager.

Sele was the driving sales success in marketing, sales public relations and customer care roles at Bluesky, the largest local utility in the territory, and at ASPA — the American Samoa Power Authority.

She led the transformation of Bluesky’s customer experience and built Bluesky’s reputation as being a customer service leader in the territory.

A well-respected community leader, Sele was for over a decade the face and voice of Bluesky and has a strong personal brand that was widely recognized and resonated with the local markets.

She established relationships and respect within the Bluesky leadership and staff. 

BACKGROUND

Sele received her Bachelor of Science business management from the University of Phoenix, 2008; Associates degree computer science (partial) — Am Samoa Community College, 1985.

Aside from her professional work, Sele was very active in the community.

She was the campaign manager for House of Representative Larry Sanitoa and successfully managed grassroots campaigns to re-elect him to serve Tualauta District #15 in the Fono.

Sele was also involved in the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts American Samoa, July- August 2008 and she was in charge of promoting the festival locally and throughout all the Pacific islands.

She volunteered at the Hope House, where she chaired the raffle fundraising committee since 2008, raising $60K to $90K each year for Hope House.

Sele was a valued member of the Catholic church, and a person of grace and great faith.

She is survived by her beloved mother — Lafine Meredith, and her three lovely children, Ursula, Sele and Anthony.
