SPA names former Teacher of the Year as their new principal
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — South Pacific Academy's Board of Directors announced yesterday the appointment of Dr Sabrina Suluai-Mahuka as principal of South Pacific Academy.
Dr Suluai-Mahuka has been acknowledged by two US Presidents for her dedication to academic excellence; she was honored by President Biden as the 2021 Territorial Teacher of the Year and also by President Trump when he bestowed her with the Presidential Award for Environmental Educators in 2020.
Additionally, she is the founder of the local Environmental advocacy group, Finafinau and also owns and operates her own business, Suluai-Mahuka Consulting, which focuses on helping students build resumes to earn awards and apply for college.
As principal, Dr Suluai-Mahuka will oversee a team of already established educators and administrators at South Pacific Academy ahead of the upcoming academic year and looks to bring her experience to South Pacific Academy and collaborate with the skilled faculty that is currently in place.
Having been founded in the late 1970s, South Pacific Academy is one of island’s oldest private schools, last year they were granted full accreditation by Western Association of School’s and Colleges.
Dr Suluai-Mahuka succeeds Mr. Paul Michael Young, whose contract ended on June 30, 2023.
