TCF escapee apprehended after fleeing on Father’s Day
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Escaped inmate Deion White has been apprehended after several weeks evading law enforcement authorities. White initially fled from the Tafuna Correctional Facility on Father’s Day, a territory-wide family celebration, which added to the urgency of the manhunt.
Correctional Officers reported to Samoa News that White executed his escape by scaling a security fence — ironically designed to deter unauthorized departures. Following his escape, he disappeared into the densely wooded areas near to the facility, complicating search efforts.
After weeks of evasion, law enforcement officials made a public appeal for assistance, urging community members to report any sightings of White to facilitate his recapture.
Authorities successfully located him in the Tafuna area, according to a Corrections Officer who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the investigation.
Samoa News records indicate that Deion White was originally charged in 2021 with serious offenses, including robbery and assault, stemming from a violent incident that occurred in Nu’uuli. His background heightened concern over his potential behavior while on the run.
