Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The ASG Veterans Affairs Office is putting together a government program for Veterans Day to be held at the Veterans Memorial Center at the Tafuna Industrial Park — across from ANZ Bank. The ceremony begins at 8a.m. on Monday and the governor will be in attendance, according to ASG officials.

While government offices will be closed Monday, some businesses - such as retail outlets, will still be open for operation including StarKist Samoa, the territory’s largest private employer. This mean businesses that provide services for the cannery will also be open, and this is welcomed by employees.

Local banks will also close Monday, but Territorial Bank of American Samoa (TBAS) says its Tafuna branch was open part of the day Saturday to assist customers in need of cash.

In observance of Veterans Day, Samoa News will not publish on Monday but returns  Tuesday. However, news updates are provided online at <samoanews.com>
