Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Uifaatali Amata told Samoa News that in a rare Sunday morning conference call, “My U.S. House colleagues and I were given a briefing by the Secretaries of State, Defense and General Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on the current situation in Afghanistan.  Because the briefing was off the record I cannot go into detail except to say the situation is very concerning.

“I ask you to join me in prayer for those who are awaiting available transportation to depart and prayer for the safety of our military and especially prayer for the well-being of our Samoan forces who are involved.

“I want to thank the Biden Administration for its courtesy in keeping all Members of Congress informed."
