Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Dr. Richard Scott Bonney, Hope Myung’s uncle, posted the following yesterday afternoon:

“Hope is with the Lord. We are saying goodbye to her.

“Thank you for your support and prayers. May God bless you all for your kindness you have shown to our family.

“We are... devastated. Our hearts are broken. We trust Divine sovereignty and God's purpose in all things... but we grieve with the Myungs for the lost time we might have had with Hope in this world, even as we look forward with them to our coming reunion in heaven.

“Please continue to pray for strength for Daniel, Sook, Daniel Jr., and Faith.

“Your heroism, support, prayers, and love are not in vain.

“The world is a better place for all you have done, and will continue to bear fruit from what we have experienced together.

“Fa'afetai lava to you all.”

Hope was MedEvaced to Hawaii last Thursday after a near drowning ordeal in Vaitogi the week before. The 14-year-old was in critical condition.

Our prayers and sincere condolences go out to the Myung family — may their grief find solace in the Lord’s grace.
