Woman facing a charge of “Pedestrian Under the Influence”

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On April 11, 2025, police officers responded to a call and observed an individual dancing and yelling out profanities in the middle of the public road.

She was apprehended and charged with Count 1: Pedestrian Under the Influence, a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $500, or both imprisonment and fine.

There was no set bail for the defendant.

According to the court affidavit, on Apr. 16th, a suspect, identified as Muamua Sani was dancing and yelling profanities out loud in the middle of the public road.

Police officers were dispatched to the answer the call and upon arrival, they instructed the suspect numerous times to get off the public road for safety reasons.

However, the suspect refused to do so and continued to dance and yell out profanities in the middle of the road.

Authorities were able to apprehend the suspect where she was placed in the police unit and transported to the FPS. Officers also detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the suspect.

Upon arrival at the station, the suspect was booked and transported to the Tafuna Correctional Facility to await the next available sitting of the District Court.

The defendant is identified as a 21-year-old citizen of Samoa.
