It’s going to be a nice long weekend, and depending on who you ask, it will be a 3 to 4 day respite.

For those who are recipients of the American Samoa Women’s, Infants, and Children’s (WIC) Program, please note that the offices will be closed today, as the staff heads out to the Veterans Memorial Stadium for the ASG Workforce Labor Day Celebration.

All government offices — including schools — will be closed next Monday as well, in observance of Labor Day. All public and private schools will be in session today, except for Manumalo Academy.

Today, a special celebration to honor local government employees will kick off with a flag raising ceremony and a parade at the Stadium. Games and activities between different government departments have been scheduled and entertainment will be provided by Nana’s Company — representing the local private sector — and the Department of Health to represent ASG.

Government offices are expected to be empty today, as everyone heads over to the Stadium for a day filled with fun and games.

The government is also expected to pay its employees today due to the federal holiday on Monday.
