Miss PIFA 2012 passes on crown

Darline Theresa Schwenke, the 2012 Miss Pacific Islander of San Diego (California), will pass on her crown to a new Queen when the Pacific Island Festival Association (PIFA) hold its 10th Annual Miss Pacific Islander of San Diego Pageant today, Friday, June 28.

Darline is Samoan and the daughter of Lomax "Meki" and Patricia "Cookie" Schwenke. Her grandparents are Max and Telesia (Liufau) Schwenke, and Taluai "Jerry" and Phyllis Pau'u.

Her Grandparents are from the Villages of Aua and Nu'uuli. You may recognize the name “Darline” — she is named after her Auntie Darline Jane Schwenke of Aua, who represented American Samoa in the 1975 Miss Universe pageant, where she won Miss Photogenic.

Darline says "It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve as Miss PIFA 2012 and to celebrate our rich Pacific Islander culture and traditions.”
