Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — Former Chief Election Officer during the Lolo and Lemanu Administration has now been reappointed by Gov. Lemanu Peteli Mauga as the new Chief Election Officer for a 3-year term upon confirmation.
Lemanu said in his Jan. 31 letter to the Speaker of the House that Uiagalelei Dr. Lealofi Uiagalelei has been the chief election officer since 2015.
Prior to that, he was the Director for Department of Human and Social Services (DHSS) and Department of Education (DOE).
“He has committed his life to serving the people of our territory and has done an outstanding job. I have confidence that Uiagalelei is running the election office in an efficient way and believe that he will continue to do so if passed,” Lemanu said.
