Two DPS employees selected to take CROSSFIT training in Hawaii
The National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa will be sending two locals to Hawaii in July to become certified as instructors in Crossfit. The NMSAS will foot the entire bill for the trip.
“This is to add a little flavor to fitness exercise,” Apulu Veronika Molio’o Mortenson, the Education, Outreach and Community Coordinator for NMSAS said during a previous interview. “Once our local instructors become certified, people will then have a choice between TaeBo and Crossfit, whichever suits them.”
Crossfit training, which will be offered at the Tauese P.F. Sunia Ocean Center twice a week, is part of the Sanctuary Wellness program expansion — adding Crossfit to Tae Bo!
The Wellness Program, which has helped a number of people shed pounds and live active lifestyles, celebrated its one-year anniversary last Saturday.
The two locals who have been selected to take the course in the Aloha State are John Sinave Seumanutafa and Talaleomalie Ana Mortenson, both of whom are employed by the Department of Public Safety.
“I’m thrilled to get this opportunity to take the Crossfit course,” Seumanutafa told Samoa News yesterday. “This is something that I can return home and offer to the local community, as part of promoting healthy living and wellness.”
Seumanutafa has been an active member of the TaeBo family since last year. He said that since he started the exercise regimen, he has become much more toned, and his composure has improved greatly.
