The PBS channel has been down for more than a week due to a problem with the satellite decoder and the needed parts are being ordered off island, according to Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde, director of the Office of Public Information.

Some local residents told Samoa News that the KVZK-TV’s PBS network, aired on Moana TV Ch: 7 has been off the air since last week and wondered as to when it will be back on air so they can watch favorite programs such as “Antique Roadshow”, “Nature” programs, and the hit English show — Downton Abbey — which has just started its new season.

Responding to Samoa News inquiries, Fagafaga said the PBS channel has been down since Monday night last week, adding that a power outage caused the channel to go down.

“KVZK engineers have been working to identify the problem and have found that the satellite decoder/receiver was damaged when the power was turned back on,” he said.

Fagafaga said the needed parts are being ordered and KVZK anticipates the channel to remain off air until the part comes in. He will provide an update as soon as KVZK gets more information.
