HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Honolulu say a cold front will continue moving across the Big Island this morning, clearing southeast of the state this afternoon. Heavy showers and a chance of thunderstorms will persist on the Big Island this morning. Forecasters have extended a Flood Advisory for the Big Island until 11 a.m. as rain continued to fall over much of the leeward and southern portions of the island. While the rainfall has diminished in intensity, earlier heavy downpours along with current rain will keep streams running high through the morning.The Big Island also remains under a High Wind Warning until noon for the possibility of southwest to west winds of 25 to 40 miles per hour with localized gusts of 60 miles per hour. A Wind Advisory is in effect until noon for the rest of the state for northwest winds of 20 to 35 miles per hour with gusts to 50 miles per hour. The winds should diminish as the front clears the state.Cool and dry weather is expected behind the front tonight and Sunday, with a relatively dry trade wind pattern resuming early next week.
