Samoana booster club revived

Parents, alumni, and supporters of Samoana High School came together with the general public to an informal get-together Saturday at the Suigaula ole Atuvasa Beach Park.

The gathering was hosted by the newly revived Booster Club. One parent who spoke to Samoa News last week said the idea to revive the Booster Club was formed after they came to the realization that the students at Sharksville are lacking equipment and supplies in order to properly train and condition for sporting events.

She explained that the guys on the football team share mouthpieces and there is no weight room for the athletes to train. “There are weights there, but no complete sets,” she said.  “There also isn’t a locker room or showers for the athletes.”

The concerned mother said the goal of the Booster Club is to get the “Sharkie Spirit” to where it once was, with everyone coming out to show their support of the school, whether on or off the field.

She said the goal is to solicit help from the private sector and seek out sponsors within the community, people who are willing to donate whatever they can to help make the school a better place to learn and grow.
