Rotary Club’s golf tourney fields 32 teams playing for charity and prizes

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — All team players at the Rotary Club of Pago Pago annual golf tournament enjoyed a beautiful day on Saturday, February 29, 2020.

Rotary has held an annual golf tournament for over 35 years and for those 35 plus years, GHC Reid & Co. and Lealaifuaneva Peter E. Reid Family have sponsored the Rotary Golf Tournaments. This year’s First Place Winner with the lowest score was Team Hawaiian Air with Captain Tuli Fruean.

The Raffle Winners for the Grand Prize Neil’s Ace Home Center Gas Stove & Hood Fan was Pat Letuli, First Prize Hawaiian Air 110,000 Miles went to Mele Haleck, the Second Prize from Cost U Less a 55” Samsung Flat Screen TV went to Mr. Auelua, Third Prize Tropik Traders' new X-Box Station went to M. Ah-Mu, the Fourth Prize Tool Shop's Echo Weed Eater was won by Aday T. of Vaitogi and the Bluesky Special Prize of a Samsung Smart Phone was won by Judy & Jimmy Payes!

The day’s lunch consisting of suckling pigs, roasted pork ribs, chicken, brisket, sauces, and umu bananas, that were served by Tee Drabble of Sadie’s by the Sea Hotel was the highlight of the tournament and enjoyed by all the golfers, supporters and sponsors.

The Rotary Club of Pago Pago Golf Tournament raised $31,500 from the 32 Golf Teams and the raffle ticket sales, before expenses and we thank all the team sponsors, the players and the Rotary Members,Tee & Tiara Drabble and the Sadie’s Hotel Team and the ANZ Bank volunteers for helping with the Rotary Club golf tournament.

The Rotary Club of Pago also extends a heartfelt gratitude for the support from GHC Reid & Co., the Lealaifuaneva Peter Reid Family, Neil’s Ace Home Center, The Neil Scratch Family, Cost U Less, Tool Shop, Tropik Traders, Starkist Samoa, KS Mart, Bluesky, Godinet Tent Rentals, ANZ Bank, Sadie’s Hotel & Inn and many other companies and individuals who have given their support, donations and volunteered to help make this 2020 Rotary Golf Tournament a great success.

The Rotary Club of Pago Pago has raised an estimated $700,000 from the golf tournaments over the past 35 years and all the funds have gone to community projects, such as the Pala Lagoon Swimming Pool, Shriners Children’s Hospital Travel Fund, Cancer Coalition, Hope House, World Wide Disaster Relief, LBJ Hospital, Angel Ring Life Savers, Polio Plus Eradication Project, Children’s Parks, Tsunami Remembrance Picnic Shelters, Organized Special Olympics and Little League Baseball, Pacific Student Exchange Program, Rotary RYLA Career Exchange Program, Golf Course Hole Marker Signs, Dictionary Donations to Public Elementary Schools, Public School Library Books and worked with other community organizations.
