The 15th Steinlager I’a Lapo’a Sport Fishing Tournament is coming to a close today with the awards and closing ceremony. As of this past Thursday, New Zealand and American Samoa were running neck and neck in overall points, but when you look at average points New Zealand with 5 boats is first (340.88), Samoa with 3 boats is second (244.6) and American Samoa with 8 boats is third (243.76).

The top two anglers as of Thursday were New Zealand’s Ross Davis (500.0 points) of the fishing boat Te Totara (Captain) and American Samoa’s Andy Wearing (464.8 points) of the fishing boat Assassin (Captain). Wearing has maintained his second place standing since the beginning of tournament on Monday, while Davis moved from the eighth spot to the number one position as of Thursday.
