Tahiti continues to see victory at tennis’ East Pacific Qualifying tournament

The American Samoa junior tennis players may have had some success this week during the International Tennis Federation (ITF) East Pacific Qualifying tournament taking place in Lautoka, Fiji, but not as much success as Team Tahiti has been having.

 

On day four of the tournament, yesterday, Tahiti’s Lea Lamorelle downed American Samoa’s Chrystal Christman, 6-3, 6-0 in the Girls 14 and Under Singles to start the day off. American Samoa saw victory in the Girls 12 and Under Doubles when Sharon Ledua and Jireh Warren squeezed by Meherio Tautu and Chrissy Vonge of Tahiti, 7-5, 7-6.

 

In the 16’s Mixed Doubles, Tahiti’s Heimanaril Laisan and Lea Lamorelle defeated American Samoa’s team of Larry Magalasin and Chrystal Christman, 6-2, 7-6. Jeremy Guines of Tahiti walloped American Samoa’s John Quinn Lim, 6-1, 6-0 in the Boys 14 and Under Singles, while in the Boys 12 and Under Singles, Duseigneur Corey of Samoa defeated Lim in a tough match, 7-5, 6-4.

 

The Girls 12 and Under Singles saw Samoa’s Penina Kamu defeat Sharon Ledua of American Samoa 7-5, 6-1. The #1 seed in the Girls 14 and Under Singles, Naia Guitton of Tahiti, swept Hanisi Ledua of American Samoa, 6-0, 6-0. Tahiti’s Girls 14 and Under team of Naia Guitton and Lea Lamorelle defeated the team of Hanisi Ledua of American Samoa and Samoa’s Eleanor Schuster, 6-2, 6-0.

 

In more Girls 12 and Under Singles action, Tahiti’s Meherio Tautu defeated American Samoa’s Jireh Warren in a hard fought match, 7-5, 0-6, 10-8. The #2 seed in the Boys 16 and Under Singles Jummah Vigas of American Samoa downed Samoa Harley Cronin, 7-6, 7-5.

 

In the Boys 16 and Under Doubles the American Samoa team of Larry Magalasin and Jummah Vigas defeated Tahiti’s Heimanaril Laisan and Reynald Taaroa 6-4, 6-2. The #1 seed in the Boys 16 and Under Singles, American Samoa’s Larry Magalasin downed Heimanaril Laisan, 6-0, 6-2.
