Apia, SAMOA — Three men in Samoa have been arrested and charged over the death of a civil engineer.

Jeremiah Malaki Tauili'ili, 24, was employed by the Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure.

He died in hospital on Wednesday after an incident outside an Apia night club in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It is reported Mr Tauili'ili had studied at an Auckland university on a scholarship from the New Zealand foreign ministry.

The arrests on Friday followed a warning by police for people not to post threatening statements regarding the death on social media.

The police have thanked the public for assistance but are encouraging people to come forward with any information relevant to their investigation.
