HONOLULU — Tropical Storm Iselle made landfall on the Pahala side of the Big Island at around 2:30 a.m.A flash flood warning has been issued for the Big Island until 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Emergency managers reported heavy rainfall over the Ka'u district in Pahala and Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. A rain gauge in Pahala indicated rain rates at nearly 4-inches-per-hour. Radar showed moderate to heavy rainfall over the southeast half of the Big Island should continue for several more hours.A tropical storm warning is now in effect for the Big Island. The warning also extends to Maui county, Oahu and Kauai County.While Oahu residents are not expected to feel the brunt of the storm like those on the Big Island, an effort to get people out of harm's way was still in effect.Evacuation buses dropped off anyone needing shelter late Thursday night and into early Friday morning all across Oahu including many families.\We've got kids in strollers.
