TSA employee jailed for failing to pay restitution

Melissa Gonzales who was the driver of a vehicle that injured an individual last year was sentenced to spend 45 days in jail until she makes payments for restitution ordered by the District Court. According to the court, Gonzales has failed to follow that condition of her probated sentence and has made excuses to the court.

 

An employee of the Transportation Security Administration she’s already spent the past three weekends in jail.  Gonzales who’s released during the week because of her employment was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $6,000 to the victim as part of her probation.

 

Ward informed Gonzales the court is committed to getting restitution to the person she injured after all she consumed alcohol and then got behind the wheel which was a negligent manner.  

 

At the status hearing this week, Judge Ward was informed that Gonzales paid $1,000 to the court the day before. The court then suspended her jail time and ordered the defendant to make a payment of $2,500 by next month and then $300 every month after that until the balance of more than $4,000 is paid in full.
