Utulei, PanSa 1 & 2 in FFAS Women’s 7-A-Side

Utulei Youth overtook PanSa as the top women’s team at the completion of their 2014 FFAS 7-A-Side league round-robin on Saturday, May 14 at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.

 

Both teams will sit out this Saturday’s playoffs as the No. 3-6 seeds play in the first round of the postseason with No. 3, and defending champs, Tafuna Jets take on No. 6 Ilaoa & To’omata while No. 4 Lion Heart plays against No. 5 Green Bay.

 

The winners advance to the semi-finals scheduled for May 31, 2014.

 

Utulei has been at the No. 2 spot for much of the competition and finally overtook PanSa on the last day of the round robin.  When these two teams met, PanSa won 3-0.

 

No. 3 Tafuna Jets vs. No. 6 Ilaoa & To’omata

 

The defending champions have steadily climbed up since starting off at the No. 6 position before finishing at the third spot of the standings.

 

Ilaoa & To’omata started off strong with a No. 3 spot before falling down three spots to No. 6 to close out the season.

 

When these two teams met the Jets won 3-0 on May 10.  Tafuna is just two wins shy of playing in the final for the second straight year.

 

No. 4 Lion Heart vs. No. 5 Green Bay

 

Lion Heart had two tough losses on the last match day of the round robin cost them a one spot slide in the standings and will play against a team they drew 1-1 on May 3.

 

As for Green Bay, they have had a tough time against the competition’s top teams but will aim for an upset against Lion Heart.
