Basil Ottley, Carmen G. Cantor, Lisa Tuato’o, and Max Haleck III

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — U.S Interior Department’s Office of Insular Affairs policy director Basil Ottley was on hand when Lisa Tuato’o, Office of Disaster Assistance and Petroleum Management (ODAPM) director, who is also the ASG’s team lead for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Working Group presented information on the territory’s Climate Change challenges and discussed infrastructure priorities with Cantor on Aug. 27.

The “BIL Working Group” consists of directors from the American Samoa Power Authority, American Samoa Telecommunications Authority, Port Administration Dept., Public Works Dept., Commerce Dept., Agriculture Dept. and the Governor’ Resilience Office.

As previously reported by Samoa News, some $40 million from the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding has been announced and is headed to American Samoa — where this year alone American Samoa will receive more than $8 million for transportation to invest in roads, bridges, public transit, ports and airports and nearly $31 million for clean water.
