Apia, SAMOA — Samoa police are refuting claims by a politician alleging that a mysterious boat from overseas entered Samoan seas and docked at Aleipata on Upolu without proper documentation.

Suspended Lepa M.P. and the leader of the Human Rights Protection Party, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi in an interview with Maota o Samoa Viiga o Le Atua claimed the Government needs to look into a mysterious boat owned and serviced by a group of Chinese which docked at Aleipata.

“I applaud the fact that the Prime Minister admitted that the boat (American Samoan boat Kite Runner) came in illegally. However, it wasn’t just one boat, there’s two,” he said.

“The other boat is a Chinese one that’s docking at Aleipata with Chinese people overcrowding Aleipata and this is something the Government should look into.”

According to Deputy Police Commissioner, Papali’i Monalisa Tiai-Keti, the Police are not aware of any boat that is docking or had docked at Aleipata with Chinese workers as alleged by the member of the Opposition party.

Tuilaepa is not the first person to raise the issue of a boat that keeps docking at Aleipata as some members of the public previously made similar claims.
