GONG 13 — VOTE!
It’s an easy flow this week — only one thing to say — VOTE!
I don’t care if you are for, or against the Veto Override — VOTE!
I don’t care if you are going to vote your old faipule back in, despite his ugly performance — VOTE!
I don’t care if you are selling your vote for a Ben Franklin — VOTE!
VOTE! because it may be the one thing in your life, in American Samoa, that you can positively say: IT BELONGS TO ME … THE RIGHT TO VOTE IS MINE… it’s not communal property, and not even the faifeau can tell me how to VOTE!
And guess what, you don’t have to be a matai to VOTE!
You own it, it’s your birthright — as a U.S. national, as a U.S. citizen — no one can tell you what to do with it — and no one is going to look over your shoulder to see how you voted! You don’t trust our leaders? JUST VOTE THEM OUT! Pule lava oe…
Then for the next two years you & I have the right to scream and yell, jump up & down, call our legislators (faipule & senators) stupid, ignorant, lazy & greedy… GONG!
And remember in two years time the election for the governor & lt. governor is coming up too, as well as the selection of our senators — we need to make them all accountable to us.
“You, me, all of us, are the ones we have been waiting for, and we have been here all along.” William Rivers Pitt (a senior editor on Truthout) — about the need in our world for heroes.
My take:
WE ARE THE VOTERS OF AMERICAN SAMOA, WHO VOTE! WE ARE THE HEROES WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR… “PEOPLE FIRST!”
Vote on Tuesday, November 4th.
