Audience in love with Le Taupou Manaia’s cultural holiday show

Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — The Le Taupou Manaia cultural holiday show Tuesday night at the Gov. H. Rex Lee Auditorium included a special production of the story of “Leafaitulagi” of a Samoan taupou, who married a nobleman from the Kingdom of Tonga. She moved to Tonga to live with her husband, but on hearing the sad news of the passing of her mother, Vaopunimatagi, Lefaitulagi made her way back home to farewell her mother.

The Amerika Samoa Humanities Council partnered with the Le Taupou Manaia for the production of Lefaitulagi.

The auditorium was packed for the well organized event in which the Amerika Samoa Humanities Council, Bluesky Communications and various local businesses teamed up with Le Taupou Manaia (LTM) Dance Academy to put on the cultural holiday show.

Fa’au’u Seumanutafa, a descendant of the Seumanutafa family spoke about their rich family history including the story of “Leafaitulagi”.

Sen. Fai’ivae Iuli Godinet, who represented the America Samoa Humanities Council, expressed appreciation to the Le Taupou Manaia for the great show and keeping cultural icons alive through their dances and story productions like “Leafaitulagi”.
