Le Fetuao Samoan Language CEO honored with Unsung Hero award

Honolulu, HAWAII — Le Fetuao Samoan Language Center, CEO Elisapeta T. Lesatele Alaimaleata is preparing for Hawaii Children's Action Network's (HCAN) "Champions for Children's Annual Award", which will be held on Wednesday, Apr. 7, 2021.  Mrs. Alaimaleata has been nominated for "going above and beyond for the children of Hawaii during the COVID-19 Pandemic.” HCAN honors community members including educators, public social service providers, health advocates and other leaders from throughout the State of Hawaii.

Through her caring work and advocacy with Le Fetuao Samoan Language Center, Mrs. Alaimaleata was among 90 nominations submitted from all over the Hawaiian islands, with a panel of community experts selecting the final honorees.

These awards have been divided into 7 categories; Innovator, Family Friendly Employer, Unsung Hero, Health Worker/Advocate, Public Health, Family Strengthening and Economic Security/Social Services. 

Mrs. Alaimaleata is one of 3 final recipients for the Unsung Hero category.

Through her hard work, Mrs. Alaimaleata and Le Fetuao have helped many of American Samoa's stranded residents last year, while waiting for approval from the past administration for Repatriation flights.
