Samoan Methodist Churches in Hawaii caring for our students

Students from American Samoa include: Gauula Moemoe (Atu’u, AS); Tia Sagapolu (Kaimuki, HI); Nate Kwon (Petesa Uta, AS); Ielu Acosta (Petesa Uta, AS); Jemima Nafatali (Lauli’I, AS); Frantacia Mauigoa (Aua, AS); Kiso Skelton (Pago Pago, AS); H. Gingerlei Porter (Auasi, AS)

Honolulu, HAWAII — Ministers and their wives from various Samoan Methodist Churches in Hawaii presented donations of food and monetary gifts to students from American Samoa at UH Manoa and Chaminade University, who are unable to return home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students from American Samoa include: Gauula Moemoe (Atu’u, AS); Tia Sagapolu (Kaimuki, HI); Nate Kwon (Petesa Uta, AS); Ielu Acosta (Petesa Uta, AS); Jemima Nafatali (Lauli’I, AS); Frantacia Mauigoa (Aua, AS); Kiso Skelton (Pago Pago, AS); H. Gingerlei Porter (Auasi, AS)

Faculty member Gingerlei Porter said, “I would like to say thank you and faafetai tele lava, on behalf of all of the students from American Samoa and our brothers and sisters from the Pacific who are stranded here together with us due to COVID-19, to the Samoan Methodist Churches in Hawaii especially Rev. and Mrs. Pelupelu Amiaitutolu, Rev. and Mrs. Samuelu Tuiolemotu, Rev. and Mrs. Mālō Tuiasosopo, and Rev. and Mrs. Faimafili Tua.

“Likewise thanks to all the organizations, partners and donors for this outreach including the Hawaii Food Alliance Services, Rotary Club, Keresema Alaimaleata Family, US Census and the UH TASI.”
