Apia, SAMOA — Let us cherish our children. That was the overarching message at the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (C.C.C.S.) at Savaia, Lefaga, when children led their White Sunday church service.

The C.C.C.S. of Savaia, Lefaga joined various church denominations to celebrate White Sunday, a day dedicated to young people.

Children in the church’s Sunday school were divided into groups so that each child could have a role whether it is through saying the prayer, reading the bible or performing songs, dances, and skits but most importantly their biblical verse recitations.

Wife of the C.C.C.S. Minister, Eseta Tofilau, said the occasion was an exciting time for the children.

“My husband, Reverend, Clay Tofilau and I are new here, we arrived in August so despite not being too familiar with the children we still tried our best with their preparations,” she said.

“There are more than 80 children in our Sunday school.

“During the days of practice, the children were all eager to come early because they have the spirit to sing and perform dances all with the aim to praise God.”

The mother of two, who is raising six children due to their relatives not being able to afford to provide for their welfare, shared that children should be cherished.

“As a mother and a servant of God, I think that it is important for children to be involved and raise them within the church or as a family of God," she said.

“It is because if the children are taught well at a young age they will grow up and never forget. After Sunday School the children can be part of the youth so that they will continue to serve God and be closer to Him.”
