Allegedly drunk son scares mother with his violent behavior
Pago Pago, AMERICAN SAMOA — On July 13, 2024, a mother contacted Tafuna Police Substation to report her son causing a disturbance at their home.
The defendant was later apprehended and charged with:
Count 1: Property Damage in the Third Degree (DV), a class B misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for up to six months, a fine of $500, or both.
The defendant’s bail was set at $500.
According to the affidavit, on July 13th, at around 3:14 p.m, a concerned mother contacted the TPS to report that her son Agape Faumuina was very intoxicated and damaging their house in Kokoland.
Officers responded to the call and upon arrival at the scene they observed a male individual later identified to be the defendant sitting at the door facing outside and consuming a can of beer.
One of the officers met up with the defendant while the other officer met with the mother. Upon approaching the mother the officers observed that she was crying and her body was shaking and she said that she was scared of her son.
The mother stated that her son had consumed beer the whole day before and continued into that day.
She said she was alarmed when he heard him yelling loudly inside their home and that he punched their oven several times causing damage to the oven. He also punched the kitchen wall causing a big hole.
She also stated that her son was released from jail in the month of May 2024 and he is currently on probation. The mother said she wanted her son confined because she knows his behavior will be worse when her daughter gets home from work. She is further worried that he might damage more stuff in their house, and she is weak and ill to handle him.
The officers apprehended Agape and he was taken to the TPS for further investigation.
While transporting Agape to the station, he spontaneously blurted out that he had drank 12 cans of beer and that he is currently on probation and was just released in May.
Upon arrival at the station, the officers booked the defendant, and during the process, they observed that Agape had red bloodshot eyes and detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the defendant.
The defendant was transported to the Tafuna Correctional Facility to be confined and to await the next available sitting of the District Court.
